Facebook and Messenger App Split –Why are they being separated ?

If you are chatting over messenger of Facebook Main App, it is time for saying good bye to it. Facebook has started the split of Messenger from Facebook’s main app. So the messenger service going to disappear from Facebook App. You can continue your chats in Facebook Messenger app, which is different from Facebook app. This change, for now, will be affecting iPhone and Android users; no change is planned for iPad and Windows Phone app. This change will take full scale in coming weeks.

Facebook app has always prompted users to download messenger app, but the transition has been slow. Now, Facebook is making a move which is not welcomed by many users. But Facebook is trying to convince their users switch to Messenger app for messaging, because of fast and reliable messaging service.

Messenger App, launched in 2011, currently has more than 200 million monthly users, according to company report.

Messenger Split – A Competitive Strategy ?

This can also be a strategic move to acclimatize users with Messenger app, a product which can be drawn parallel to WhatsApp. This will give an edge to Facebook to habituate users with Messenger and giving a point of parity against WhatsApp. This can be a substantial advantage for Facebook to develop products according to usage statistics and give a challenge to WhatsApp’s popularity.

As Messenger is now going to be used more, we can expect Facebook coming up with some better features combining speed and performance along with a good user experience.
