There might be several reasons for users for not being on Twitter. But that should not stop you from coming to Twitter. Twitter is a social platform which has a rapidly growing subscriber base. Students, Professionals, groups and communities have a social presence via Twitter. Enjoying a subscriber base of more than 1 Billion users, Twitter has 255 million monthly active users. 500 million Tweets are sent every day. 78% of the active subscribers access Twitter on-the-go with the help of smartphones and other mobile devices. It is a fastest growing social network showing a growth rate of 44% from 2012-2013. This increase can be attributed to the increasing awareness and adoption by people and businesses. 34 % of Social Media Marketing is done on Twitter for successfully generating leads. Twitter has also been evolving with usage; it has become more visual, interactive and engaging.
Now the basic question – What is in store for me?
The answers can be many. But the main advantage it gives you is the power of presence. You get freedom of tweeting, commenting and having conversations with some of the World’s important people and Brands, which can give you a head-start for building your ‘Brand’ and ‘Visibility’.
Some popular uses of Twitter are as follows:
- Microblogging
This is a micro-blogging platform. It is easy to express and tell people what are you doing in a form of Tweet. It is a nice way of being connected with friends and family – to your daily life. You can also interact with big companies and Brands which can help your visibility in Twitter.
- Job Seeking
Twitter can help you find new jobs as most of the companies post their job openings on Twitter. Presence of many company profiles in which you can inquire about the company in the form of tweets.
- Being updated with News and Events
Twitter has been adopted by various newspapers, magazines, TV channels and news channels. You can find posts related to instant news, opinions, events, and blogs. This is a great way to keep track of news. You can also share your views and news by retweeting and tweeting on the news. This makes it more interactive and engaging.
- Spreading Awareness and Connectivity
Twitter is a platform which can be used to spread awareness regarding wrong doing, social cause, campaigns. It allows many users to connect and support, share and contribute to the campaign. It can be a potential change which was otherwise not possible due to lack of support.
- Being involved with politics
Politicians are adopting Twitter to increase their follower base and stay connected to their constituencies. People can tweet their concerns which are seldom unheard. You also get news feeds and views of different leaders and policies.
- Follow your favorite Stars and Sports
Twitter helps you get connected to your favorite movie or sports star, teams. You can get involved by sharing views to stars as well as their fan base which generate a world of facts and information.
- View Updates for Upcoming Movies and Music
You can find updates for the upcoming movie and music on Twitter. Reviews of various critics and people regarding the movie and music can give you a great deal of information without actually experiencing it.
So in a nutshell,
“Twitter is not always about tweeting about self, it is tweeting about them.”
You can increase your social presence with Twitter and be updated with the latest events via Tweets.
“Tweet and Retweet, Follow and be Followed.”
