When someone talks about LinkedIn first thing that springs to mind is that it is for working professionals. But it’s not just a social networking site for working professionals but rather a platform where they can interact with future employers and employees. Also, recruiters can find suitable candidates with required work experience and job profiles. LinkedIn has more than 313 million members and 84 million unique visitors as of June’ 14. It is the most popular social media site of the recruiters with 94% of the recruiters using LinkedIn to look for suitable candidates.
Volatility of the economy as well as tough competition has made it difficult for the companies to give sufficient budget and time to look for good fit employees. Now the companies have to act fast with minimal recruiting expense to hire people. They can’t risk spending time or resources to train their employees to become ready for the job because time is money so companies. Just one moment of negligence can cost a lot for them. So they look for and want employees who are ready from day one. And this is where LinkedIn is of great help to the companies. It helps companies to scan profiles and past work experience of the potential employees.
Also consider the recommendations posted by fellow connections for the profile of an individual. These recommendations add value to the profile and give companies an opportunity to judge authenticity of the details shared by that individual. Companies can look into connections of that employee to learn more about that individual.
That’s why it’s important for working professionals to become members of LinkedIn as it is necessary for teenagers and young people to be on Facebook and Twitter to stay connected with their friends. If you are not yet a member of LinkedIn it would be good time to become one now.
Considering the pace at which technology is evolving and internet penetration is increasing, it looks obvious that LinkedIn will be the go-to place for recruiters to search for future employees. With increase in member count each day LinkedIn will not only give more information but add relevance to its members. In future its features would get more sophisticated to give advantage to both recruiters and job seekers.
