Microsoft has already putting a strong message to the customers by jumping the Number Series. At a press event on 30th September 2014, Microsoft unveiled the next version of Window OS : Windows 10.
The question which is posed now – How is Windows 10 different from the earlier versions ?
Lets find out.
‘Look and Feel’
Microsoft has now found the middle path of the earlier versions of windows which were more menu based with less icons & Windows 8 which had more of Icons and look , feel of handling apps. The old customer can now get the old taste and look of the same curry, with a pinch of flavor. In easy words, the desktop screen oriented approach with a bit of ‘Appization’ of Start Menu.
A Look to the Future – Enterprise Business Platform
Windows is also hoping that Windows 10 will be compatible to all the ‘familiar’ management systems, including mobile device management system. MDM tools not only manage mobile devices, but also, tablets, phones, PCs and other embedded devices. Data security is a challenge for them for which they are up for it. This is giving a chance to Enterprises, managing their own app stations/stores, providing the right app for their employees.
Still in ‘Touch’
Microsoft doesn’t want to give up on their philosophy of touch. They believe Touch gives the acceleration in use of PC. On a touch screen without keyboard and mouse, The Start Menu will have a back button which will allow users to easily navigate through the apps. But when the Keyboard and mouse get connected, The Start menu will get transformed to the traditional type.
Educating Customers – Windows Insider
On 1st October 2014, Microsoft is launching Windows Insider program. This can be an interesting platform for education and feedback. They are counting on crowd sourcing concept. They are inviting the active and expressive ‘fans’ and users of Windows, which will help them get familiarize with the new platform as well as take inputs from them for refining Windows 10, for better ‘Windows’ experience. They are expecting Windows 10 to be the most open and collaborative OS project.
Windows 10 will create a potential impact on the market shares for Apple iOS and Android. But we need to see how far they will succeed in this mission.
