We are always fascinated about the things around us. We try to recreate our environment with our imagination – making it more creative and interactive. This has always pushed Technology to extend beyond their limits which captures everyone’s imagination.
People have an idea, and they go ahead to make it possible. We can count the possible technological interventions which has improved the our World like Electric devices, TV, Land Line Phones, Mobile Phones, Computers, other audio and video communication channels and devices.
The next best thing which has happened, caught everyone’s imagination – Virtual Reality.
Let me introduce you to Virtual Reality – What it is, Applications, It’s Future.
What is Virtual Reality?
Virtual Reality or Virtual Realities (VR), which is also said to be known as Immersive Multimedia and Computer-simulated Reality. It is a technology, which creates or replicates an existing, real or imaginary environment and allows user simulation for presence and interaction with that environment.
Present day Virtual Realities, are pretty limited to Sight and Sound, with a possibility of creating a wholesome Sensory Experience.
The basic form of Virtual Reality can be assumed to be a 3-D Image which can be explored via PC, having a scope of interaction via browsing through mouse or keyboard. Some more sophisticated VRs which have come up are – Wrap-Around VR Headsets, Actual rooms augmented with Wearable Computers, and Haptic Devices which mainly make you feel whatever is displayed.
Applied Virtual Reality
As we know, Virtual Reality has found its first home in gaming technology. But there are many other fields in which Virtual Reality may come in handy.
Military: VR can be a very handy tutor as it can be used to provide simulated environment to practice Combat, flight, medic exercise which are very critical on the battlefield.
Education: VR can be used to provide learning-based simulation for complex concepts, making it easier to understand, as it will be consisting all the interactive minute details.
Healthcare: VR can be a very important aid to practice Healthcare Concepts. Simulations such as Human Simulation, VR Diagnostics, and Virtual Robotic Surgery can be a pioneer in setting up a scalable infrastructure to practice and learn Healthcare Concepts, which can be repeated with high effectiveness.
Business: VR can be an effective aid for Training and Development exercises, Data Visualization and Business Meetings and other communication channels.
These are very few examples and domains which are cited here, but application of VR is far more than only these domains or businesses.
Virtual Reality – It’s Future
Virtual Reality can really spread its wings and take the flight of making almost everything real. What it really means is Virtual Reality can enter in our life in multiple points, such as doing exercise, driving vehicle, working at office, doing household works. We really have up open up our mind to the endless possibilities.
But it is also necessary that we should understand that VR can be very persuasive, an ill-effect which is inherent with the technology. We have to use it judiciously and with appropriate supervision.
